About this book

The previous comprehensive book about the Kielland family was published in 1897. A short version was also published in 'Norske Slægter' in 1912.
This book also includes posterity including the year 2009. The book includes an overview over the development of the Ledaal property until it was discontinued in 1930. There is also an overview of real estate and ships belonging to the trading house Jacob Kielland & Son, and of the livestock farming at Ledaal.
The Kielland family can now be found all over the world, and there is a significant posterity in Norway, Denmark, Italy, Spain and Canada, amongst other countries.


About the writer

Bjørn Kielland Aarre, born 28th March 1946

Bjørn Kielland Aarre has since the 1960s been active in communicating local history, both as causeaur in NRK Lokalen (radio) and writing articles in the newspapers in Stavanger, Norway. He has also written for ’Stavangeren’, the membership magazine published by Byhistorisk Forening in Stavanger. In 1987 he published the book ’Slektsbok for Stavanger- og Haugesundsfamilien Nyman (Nymann)’, and in 1991 he was, together with Erling Sømme Kielland, co-initiatior to the founding of Byhistorisk Forening in Stavanger. Bjørn Kielland Aarre was the leader of the foundation for 4 years.
